My name is Nick Spalding and I’m a commercial photographer. I also run a content agency producing marketing and content branding for businesses.
My passion for photography began some time ago, in the days of film and photo printing, and has stuck with me ever since. I haven’t always followed my passion but nowadays I am listening to the voice in my head that says ‘Just do it’, so let’s see where this journey takes us.
Thank you for visiting my page, I really appreciate you taking the time to find out more about me. Here’s a few more snippets to help you understand me:
Family: Is very important to me, particularly the gorgeous women in my life including my wife, daughter, mum, sister, mother-in-law, my niece (and nephew) and our dog Ora.
Located: We currently live and work from our home in Shefford, Bedfordshire, with a garden office for business.
Colour: My favourite colour is blue. Most of my wardrobe is full of blue items, shirts, t-shirts, jeans, trousers and jackets, they are all in the blue colour spectrum somewhere.
Idol: I’ve had a few in my life, starting with Glenn Hoddle when I was about 8 years old through to Gordon Ramsay later in life. My cousin Cliff was also a bit of an idol growing up too, he spent most of his younger years on a shoreline up to his waist in water taking photographs of International Windsurfing competitions.
Happy: It’s a little cheesy but nothing makes me happier than finishing the working week with a touch of Yoga and winding down on the sofa with my wife and our dog Ora. I’m also thrilled when my amazing daughter, in her final year at University, chooses to visit and spend time with us.
Unhappy: Being tired and unfit makes me very unhappy.
Book: Rich Dad, Poor Dad, it changed my views on life, working and money, completely.
Guilty Pleasure: Listening to Paul Young albums.
Embarrassing: Anyone who knows me knows I am an ardent supporter of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club which in itself is not too embarrassing. However when I was young I asked my mum to buy me a red football shirt as I had been picked to play in the school football team and in those days we had to supply our own kit. You can find me lined up in the team photograph duly wearing an Arsenal shirt….she says it was the only red top she could find.
Relax: So I enjoy Yoga and playing football once or twice a week in a veteran (Over 35’s) league. I’m the oldest player by far as I approach my fifties…
Smell: Natural Vanilla or my wife’s favourite perfume.
Disappointment: I overheard my football coach, when I was 10 years old, say that I had the ability and technical prowess to become a professional footballer but not the determination. Anyone who knows me as an adult will tell you I’m pretty determined and have been ever since becoming an adult…..If only I knew then what I know now….
Place: I have been fortunate to visit lots of places across the world, my favourites include Tokyo, Madrid, Laguna Beach, Mykonos Town, Camps Bay, Vienna, Oslo in fact too many to mention, but if I had to pick my favourite place in the world, it’s probably my friend Terri’s restaurant she owns and runs with her husband Makis in Zakynthos, Greece. It’s where my wife Lisa and I got married and it is somewhere that is always warm and welcoming and where I feel most at peace with the world.
Unusual: Unknowingly, I once lived next-door for a number of years to an undiscovered (but since discovered) violent knife murderer…and to make this story even more unusual, my wife Lisa’s dad preserved DNA at the time of the murder, two decades prior to the murderer’s eventual arrest, due to a DNA match…
